Apparently Garner and Baylee think that we need to plant a garden this Spring. Drew and I saw this list while we were eating dinner. It’s quite long, not sure it will be possible to plant it all!! Love Baylee’s spelling! 🙂
Here’s a little organizing I did today on my work table. It was a lot messier looking before. Simple, but does the job. I try to use mason jars anytime I can. I just love the plain yet stylish feel they have. A bit vintage maybe, but definitely Southern. I spent part of my growing up years in AR. My Meme canned all sorts of things. So I guess really they just always remind me of her! I found the black caddy at an antique store, I LOVE it!!! Funny how such a simple thing can make you smile. 🙂
I love Creative Memories new Dual-tip Pens!!! Go here to check them out!!
This afternoon I got to go shopping, ALONE!!! A perfect opportunity to walk around Michael’s just to look around. I found a felt-board activity set for the kids and some Smash stuff!! My good friend Carrie posted about these on her blog recently. If you want more detail check out her blog here. I personally am not ready to start scrapping in that way yet. I do love it though! It goes back to the simple way of scrapbooking, the way I did it growing up. I ended up buying the pink one for Baylee, along with a few of the extras. Her Birthday is in February. I think it will be a great way for her to start documenting what’s important to her. (Not what her Mama thinks is.) I will post some pics when she gets going on it. Then I had to go to Wal-Mart… never again will I go at 4 o’clock in the afternoon!! It was a mad house!!
Anyway, I hope you’ve had a good start to your week!!
21st Day of Christmas: Shopping for Siblings!! I took Garner and Baylee, separately, shopping for their siblings. They had a $10 total limit and that included buying a gift bag to put their purchases in. So we shopped at the Dollar store and the Dollar Bins at Michael’s. They had a great time!! And they really got some pretty great things for each other. I had already done Reese’s shopping for them. 🙂
22nd Day of Christmas: Surprise!!! Well, when we wrote this on the card we didn’t realize that we would be the ones that actually got the ‘surprise’ of the day. We were woken up by Garner, who had glued his eye shut!! With Super Glue!!! Needless to say, that is what we dealt with all day. His eye was completely open by Christmas… Thank Goodness!!! We did take them to ice cream in the afternoon… the actual surprise of the day!
23rd Day of Christmas: Christmas Lights! We took our annual Christmas Lights drive. We saw some pretty awesome displays!
24th Day of Christmas: Color Gingerbread House! This was an OK activity. It was one of those Cardboard houses you put together. Due to Reese’s age, we only allowed crayons. It would have been much better with paint or markers. I didn’t really like any of the pics from this activity, so here’s one of us watching The Night Before Christmas!!
And that is it for the Days of Christmas!!! We all really enjoyed having an activity to do everyday leading up to Christmas Day! It was wonderful bonding for our family. It made us really focus on the importance of spending time together, and not to focus on the materialistic holiday it has become for so many. This is a tradition that will continue for years to come. It may get a little tricky when we hit teenage years, but we are up for the challenge. I will post a few pics of Christmas Day on another post.
Catch-up Part 2!
17th Day of Christmas: We had Surprise Visitors!! Drew’s parents came for the weekend. It was a long few hours from the time the kids read the card to when they got here. It was a fun surprise!
18th Day of Christmas: Wrap Teacher Gifts! I had stuff that I had bought last year for their teachers… along with a bag full of my goodies. They had fun wrapping the gifts themselves and writing their cards!!
19th Day of Christmas: We read Christmas Books by the tree! Here is the selection they chose!
20th Day of Christmas: We watched the movie, “When Santa Comes to Town”. I have no pics for this day. 😦
Only 1 more post to go… 21st-24th!! YAY!!
Finally!!! I am getting this done!!
13th Day of Christmas: We had a candle light dinner! Spaghetti was on the menu. I wasn’t able to get very good pics… for obvious reasons. 🙂 The kids were so calm, we may have to do this more often.
14th Day of Christmas: We had a picnic by the tree!
They were still hungry after eating EVERYTHING I had put out, so they found the crust!!
15th Day of Christmas: We delivered goodies to our neighbors! We had a couple that weren’t home, but we enjoyed visiting with the few that were.
16th Day of Christmas:We watched the Polar Express!! It’s one of our favorites. Reese loves to sit on the table to watch TV. We can’t keep her off, so we quit fighting with her about it… for now. 😉
Sorry about the lack of details. I just want to get these pics up… my mom keeps checking for them!! Love you Mom!!!
Looks like I will have to wait until tomorrow to start catching up… I am having major issues getting pics uploaded!! One of my “excuses” for not keeping things up-to-date in December. It wasn’t just a quick thing to do…
Hello everyone!! Looks like I have had some activity on here… I didn’t know that so many of you enjoyed it! Thanks so much! I am trying to figure out how I can get into a better routine to make my posts more frequent. That is what 2012 is all about for me… better routines. Will post about that later. 😉
So, about the rest of our Days of Christmas activities… I will probably not write a novel about each one. Something short and sweet, with a picture. Just want to get caught up. We really enjoyed this new tradition in our family, the kids loved it!!
I will apologize now for all the FB posts that are getting ready to start coming. It automatically posts there when I have a new post here.
Here it goes!!!
